What is a Computer Help Desk

A Computer Help Desk is a call center that is set up to collect and respond to support requests about computer product installation, usage, and/or problems. Support requests are usually submitted and responded too using some type of electronic communications medium:

  • Phone
  • e-Mail
  • FAX
  • Online Bulletin board (BBS)
  • Online live Web based chat

A Computer Help Desk can be an internal unit within an organization's Information Technology (IT) Department or it can be outsourced to a Help Desk Services Provider.
