EDO TSO Computer Support History

We have 75 plus years of corporate history that is rich in the delivery of high technology products and services to businesses, the health care industry, government agencies, and military organizations.

AIL Systems, Inc.

Help is available for almost every organization.Our history began in 1940 as a think-tank of scientists and engineers performing war related research and development (R&D) for the US government. In 1945 the scientists and engineers decided to form their own company and Airborne Instruments Laboratory, Inc. was created.

Cutler-Hammer, Inc.

  • Cutler-Hammer, Inc. purchased AIL in 1958 and we became a division of Cutler-Hammer.
  • Technical Services Operations (TSO) was formed In 1977 to provide engineering, programming, flight test, avionics equipment repair, and production testing for the B-1 Bomber at Edwards Air Force Base.
  • TSO is located in Lancaster (Antelope Valley area), California. The Antelope Valley (AV) is steeped in space, aerospace, and military history. Our area is the home of Edwards Air Force Base and Air Force Plant 42 where Space Shuttles, B-1B Bombers, B-2 Bombers, F-117 Stealth Fighters, SR-71 Blackbirds, and U-2 aircraft were built, tested and refurbished.

Eaton Corporation

  • Eaton Corporation purchased Cutler-Hammer in 1979 and AIL became a subsidiary of Eaton. 
  • TSO started to expand its technical support services to include commercial computer support outsourcing in 1988. Our in-depth technical support, engineering, programming, testing and computer operations expertise made this a natural expansion and enabled us to quickly become a provider of computer technical support.
  • In 1990, TSO was established as a profit center with a mandate to expand its commercial support services.
  • During 1991 expanded its support services to provide onsite Help Desk services to businesses and government agencies. We supported a variety of commercial and proprietary infrastructures.
  • Commercial technical support was expanded in 1995 when TSO opened its Computer Call Center in Lancaster, CA. Our Help Desk supported standard commercial software and hardware.

Employee Owned Company

  • AIL System, Inc. became an employee owned company in 1997.
  • Help Desk support expanded into the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Software Publisher markets by supporting manufacturer and publisher customers.
  • TSO began supporting Wireless Vendors in 1998. We have grown our wireless support business from Tier 1 assistance to providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for several Wireless Vendors. In addition, we also began providing RMA and Fulfillment services for vendors.

EDO Corporation Merger

  • In 2000 AIL (50+ year company) merged with EDO Corporation (75+ year company) and TSO was integrated into EDO. Technical Services Operations became a Business Unit of EDO Corporation. TSO continued the rapid expansion of its help desk, computer support, and Information Technology (IT) outsourcing business.
  • In 2002 we started providing Help Desk support for proprietary and vertical applications used by business employees and agents.

Manpower Sourcing

  • The Antelope Valley area of California has an abundance of qualified technical personnel.
  • We actively recruit from local colleges and trade schools.
  • Because of our location, TSO is not in direct competition with other computer support outsourcing organizations for personnel.
  • We have an established "Feeder" Network of qualified support specialists.
  • Our Human Resource Department recruitment processes and our
    partnership with leading employment and contract labor firms enable TSO to staff remote locations with qualified personnel quickly.
